A truly Greek Humanitarian Organisation

MdM - Greece were established in 1990 and they constitute a unique Greek Organisation which follows its own path based to the particularities of Greece, maintaining its economic and administrative independence. At the same time, however, they remain part of the International Net of MdM which consists of 14 departments. (Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, United States, Cyprus ,Greece, Netherlands, Portugal ,United Kingdom ,Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, Japan and Argentina).

Completing 23 years of continous action, in 2013, MdM have been recognized to the conscience of the citizens as a reliable and effective organization which promotes the feelings of solidarity of the greek society. With many missions of humanitarian aid in Greece and in developing countries, Greek medicines, sanitary personnel, administrative employees and logisticians offer their services voluntarily.

Στα πλαίσια της συνεργασίας των Γιατρών του Κόσμου με το Σύλλογο Φοιτητών Ιατρικής (Helmsic), το Σάββατο 18/5/2013 πραγματοποιήθηκε  διάλεξη στα γραφεία των Γιατρών του Κόσμου με θέμα «Ιατρική Δεοντολογία – Ποινική και Αστική Ευθύνη Έλληνα γιατρού». Ομιλητής ήταν ο γιατρός – χειρουργός κος Γεώργιος Κασσάρας, μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου των Γιατρών του Κόσμου, επιστημονικός διευθυντής του Ανοιχτού Πολυιατρείου και τακτικό μέλος του πειθαρχικού συμβουλίου του Ιατρικού Συλλόγου Αθηνών.

The victim (14 years old)  is supported by Doctors of the World-Greek Delegation in the framework of the action ENOUGH!  (an action dedicated to the promotion of tolerance of  diversity and prevention of racist violence in Greece which is realized in collaboration with the Greek Council for Refugees).

 Médecins du Monde  invite you to a Bike ride event on Sunday, June 2^nd, 2013, organized for the support of program ENOUGH! which is carried out in collaboration with the  Greek Council for Refugees.

Médecins du Monde express their deep gratitude to  Samourka Foundation,  for its continued support to MdM actions.Once more, thanks to Samourka Foundation’s generosity, over 100 families of our most vulnerable patients will be able to enjoy the Easter dinner.

Médecins du Monde and the  Greek Council for Refugees visited Manolada and remained in the area from Friday (19^th of April, 2013) until Monday (22^nd of April,2013) in order to draw up an, on the spot, record of the victims of this atrocious racist attack and to offer legal and social aid as well moral support to the victims.  

Η παρούσα έκθεση αποτελείται από δύο μέρη: Το πρώτο μέρος αφορά τα ποσοτικά και ποιοτικά αποτελέσματα της καταγραφής περιστατικών ρατσιστικής βίας, μετά από συνέντευξη με τα θύματα, από οργανώσεις που συμμετέχουν στο Δίκτυο Καταγραφής Περιστατικών Ρατσιστικής Βίας. Το δεύτερο μέρος εστιάζει στις θέσεις του Δικτύου σχετικά με τις αντιδράσεις και πρωτοβουλίες της Πολιτείας για την αντιμετώπιση της ρατσιστικής βίας, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των νομοθετικών πρωτοβουλιών που οδηγήθηκαν σε υιοθέτηση.

Médecins du Monde, in the scope of the Action titled "Community Structures for the Eradication of Poverty in Municipality of Athens" (MIS 377099) which leaves the ground as part of the Operational Program "Human Resources Development 2007- 2013", co-funded by the European Social Fund, hires, on a fixed-term contract, 10 unemployed persons up to the age of 30, for 24 months occupation at the Community Pharmacy (3) and the Dormitory (7) in Athens.

Program aimed to promote tolerance and prevention of racist violence in Greece.

In these days of unprecedented economic and social crisis, which leads to steep rise of xenophobic and racist phenomena, Médecins du Monde and the Greek Council for Refugees join their forces in the implementation of the program called "ENOUGH!" The program is supported by the Open Society Foundations as part of the Fund to Counter Xenophobia. The aim of the program is to sensitize and inform the public about: the pernicious repercussions of racism; the need to combat racist crimes; the need to end impunity for perpetrators of such crimes; and the protection of victims. It is also aimed at promoting all necessary actions that will help adopt an official National Strategy in the combating of this phenomenon, as well as to push for the elaboration of a National Review amongst other actions.
