Doctors of the World/ Médecins du Monde, is an international, medical, humanitarian, non-governmental organization (NGO) which provides emergent medical aid to victims of natural disasters, wars and conflicts.

Medical, paramedical, as well as administrative and technical staff works to undertake humanitarian action. The motivation of the organization is one; every human being has the right to humanitarian support regardless of race, religion, ideology or political beliefs. Consequently, Médecins du Monde act based on the principals of equity and objectivity. However, the fact that they maintain these principals does not prevent them from speaking openly for the infringement of human rights when they become eyewitnesses of such violations. Whenever it is possible, Médecins du Monde will point out the dangers of these infringements whether using silent diplomacy, or with the help of the media.  

Médecins du Monde as an independent NGO bases its operational activities on flexible and targeted humanitarian aid to population in distress.

• Medical care

  The first obligation of Médecins du Monde is to heal. The volunteers of the organization are committed to offer their help to vulnerable populations of the world, including Greece, like: victims of natural disasters, famines, diseases, victims of wars, conflicts and political violence, refugees, expatriates, minorities, street children, drug addicts, and in general every single person who is unable to gain access to medical care. 

• Testimony

  We are aware of the fact that, in long-term, there is no cure or perpetual solution without the establishment of a fair social legislation. Therefore, aiming to an essential social contribution, the action of Médecins du Monde extends beyond the section of health: based always on their medical experience, while being completely independent, they speak openly against the exclusion from health, against the violation of human rights and dignity. 

Médecins du Monde keep an open dialogue with politics and politicians aiming to ameliorate the living conditions of the populations. They fight every injustice. Eternal defenders of human rights, they oppose racism, xenophobia, social exclusion and isolation of various social groups.

 Long-term goal of Médecins du Monde is to make health a fundamental human right.
