Social support to refugees and immigrants

The department of Social Service of Medecins du Monde provides services of social support and advisory to the beneficiaries of the Organisation according to the principles of Intermethodical Social Work in collaboration with an organized net of public services and Non-Governmental Organisations. The aim of the Social Service is the individual confrontation of the beneficiaries’s needs.

The Social Service functions daily aiming to the confrontation of the social problems and difficulties that people living in the Hostel face as well as people who address to this service through the Polyclinic. This department makes an effort in order to include these persons to the wider social society and to ensure to them a quality of life which will correspond in their basic needs.

More specifically, Social Service has the following competences:

• Social Background ( registration of social elements and requests of the beneficiaries )
• Creation and information about the records of social service
• Provision of social services - social intervention. Intervention to situations of crisis
• Social Advisory and Support (information to the beneficiaries about their rights and capacities for access to the public health care system and social aid)
• Material aid at case ( information about providence issues, allowances , food, things of first need )
• Information about educational and training issues as well as professional orientation
• Work with public service and Non-Governmental Organisation , collaboration with a net of social service
• Registration of providing services and statistics
• Collaboration with all the programs of the organization
