The Reach.out plus project (full title: “REActing to gender-based violence against refugees through Coordinated Help, Advocacy and OUTreach actions Plus”), is a 24-month project involving international cooperation between the German, Greek, and Dutch Médecins du Monde, Care Germany, and Care International to provide support and raise awareness among migrant and refugee communities on issues of gender-based violence.
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the support and protection of women survivors of gender-based violence and the most vulnerable individuals within migrant and refugee communities in Germany, Greece, and the Netherlands by improving the implementation and monitoring of existing EU policies on gender-based violence.
Reach.out plus aims to prevent and protect the most vulnerable migrant and refugee groups through targeted actions in three key areas:
- Empowering communities through appropriate education and training of individuals from migrant and refugee communities who will act as multipliers of knowledge and information, reaching out to the population through outreach activities.
- Providing low-threshold support services to the project partners’ facilities and through the pilot operation of a special helpline in Greece.
- Capacity building for frontline staff through group training and training meetings on basic guidelines and mapping of available referral channels.
The project’s activities cover three main host countries of the European Union: Germany (Upper Bavaria), Greece (Athens and Thessaloniki) and the Netherlands (Amsterdam) from three different chapters of Médecins du Monde (MdM-DE, MdM-GR and MdM-NL). In this project, they combine their many years of experience in supporting vulnerable communities. CARE Germany (CARE-DE) and CARE International (CARE-INT) complete the partnership, contributing their expertise and experience in advocacy.
The Reach.out plus project is co-funded by the European Union under the CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) program and the CERV-2025-DAPHNE call for proposals, with Médecins du Monde – Germany (Ärzte der Welt) as coordinating partner.
