Protection of personal data

Médecins du Monde (MdM-Greece), as a Data Controller, in accordance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (hereinafter referred to as “GDPR”) which enters into force on 25 May 2018, keeps a personal data file, in full compliance with the applicable legislation.

These terms are formulated taking into account both the rapid development of technology and in particular the Internet and the existing – albeit not fully developed – legal framework on these issues. In this context, any possible relevant regulation will be the subject of this section. In any case, MdM-Greece reserves the right to change the terms of protection of personal data after informing visitors/users and within the existing or potential legal framework. If a visitor/user does not agree with the terms of protection of personal data provided in this section, they must not use the services of this website.

The collection and processing of personal data is carried out only to the extent deemed strictly necessary for the purposes of supporting communication between Médecins du Monde and its website visitors, responding to their requests of any kind, updating and informing them about MdM-Greece programs, actions and events. According to the GDPR (article 4), Personal Data is defined as “any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (hereinafter referred to as “Data Subject”).

MdM-Greece shall collect the following data on a case-by-case basis: Name, surname, father’s name, mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number.

Newsletters

For the registration of the visitor/user to the mailing lists of the MdM-Greece Newsletters, the following data are requested: Name / Company name – E-mail. The Network may keep a record of recipients’ e-mail addresses for the purpose of sending other informative messages in addition to the Newsletters, unless the recipient does not wish to do so. This information is never disclosed to third parties. The recipient of the Newsletters can be deleted from the file of e-mail addresses by sending an e-mail to info [at] mdmgreece.gr. MdM-Greece may delete any recipient without justification.

Cookies

The mdmgreece.gr website may use cookies to identify the visitor/user of certain services and pages of the Network (e.g. newsletters). Cookies are small text files that are stored on the hard drive of each visitor/user and do not take note of any document or file from their computer. They are used to facilitate the visitor’s/user’s access to the use of specific services of mdmgreece.gr, for statistical purposes in order to determine the areas in which the services of the Network are useful or popular or for marketing purposes. The MdM-Greece website uses cookies for the following reasons: (a) Google Analytics Conducting surveys for statistical purposes and/or to improve the content and services of the website and/or to assess its effectiveness. (b) Social networking. Cookies that are placed by social networking website providers in order for the visitor to easily share the content of the website through these means. The visitor/user of mdmgreece.gr can set their server in such a way that it either warns them about the use of cookies in specific services of mdmgreece.gr or does not allow the acceptance of the use of cookies in any case. Personal Data

The processing of Personal Data (Article 6(1) GDPR) is permitted if it is based on at least one of the following: a) your consent; b) the performance of a contract to which you are a party or in order to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract; c) compliance by MdM-Greece as Data Controller with a legal obligation; d) the safeguarding of a vital interest of yours or another natural person; e) reasons of public interest; or f) the need to fulfil a legitimate interest of the Data Controller or a third party.

The Personal Data entered by visitors to the MdM-Greece website are processed in a manner compatible with the aforementioned purposes and are not disclosed to any third party, unless required by law or a court decision or requested by any governmental or regulatory authority, as well as when there is explicit specific consent of the Data Subject for the disclosure in any way of their personal data to third parties.

With the declaration of consent, each Data Subject gives their consent to the collection, maintenance and general processing of their personal data provided by MdM-Greece, after having been informed of the purpose of collection and processing, and of their protection.

Consent may be withdrawn at any time with a declaration to that effect and without prior notification to MdM-Greece.

Each Data Subject also retains all the rights provided for by the GDPR, namely: a) the right of access to and information about his or her personal data held; b) the right to have their personal data corrected to be accurate; c) the right to erasure of their personal data if the processing and retention of their personal data is no longer desirable or necessary; d) the right to restrict the processing of their personal data, e) the right to the portability of their data and their transmission to another Controller through prior provision by the MdM-Greece in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format; and f) the right to object to the processing of data and to decisions taken solely on the basis of automated processing.

The Organisation has the right to refuse the deletion request if the retention of the data is necessary for the establishment, exercise or support of its legal rights, as well as for the needs of compliance with tax, insurance or general legislation.

Visitors/users of the MdM-Greece website who are minors have access to the services of the Network only with the consent of their parents or guardians and are not obliged to submit their personal data. In the event that such information is submitted by minors, MdM-Greece shall delete the relevant information.
