Inauguration of a hospital in Chernivtsi

Thanks to the cooperation of Médecins du Monde – Greece and Médecins du Monde – Japan, within the framework of the “Rehabilitation of Healthcare Infrastructure in Ukraine” (H.I.R. Project), an intervention that includes renovation works of selected healthcare facilities in Sumy and Chernivtsi regions of Ukraine, the emergency hospital in Chernivtsi managed to completely renovate many of its premises.

In particular, the examination rooms (for children and adults) and the entrance hall, as well as the offices and rest areas for doctors and staff and other important areas for the operation of a hospital were renovated with funds from the Japanese government’s project. The total area of the renovated premises is almost 240 square meters.

Also, by the end of December, in the framework of the H.I.R Project, the Chernivtsi Emergency Hospital will receive 2 new medical stretchers with transparent adjustable backrests for X-rays. This is necessary equipment for providing better medical services. Finally, MdM Greece’s Stratos Chiotis, Head of Mission Ukraine Crisis and Oleksiy Hrushko, Field Coordinator of MdM Ukraine attended the opening of the Trauma Centre.

The hospital is collaborating with Médecins du Monde – Greece from the summer of 2022. During this period, it has received various humanitarian supplies, including medicines, consumables and equipment for the emergency department. Médecins du Monde – Greece is already counting 20 months of continuous presence and action in Ukraine supporting the civilian population.

Among others, Oleksiy Boyko, Head of Chernivtsi Regional Council and representatives of local authorities were present at the opening ceremony.
