Γιατροί του Κόσμου Ελλάδας-THI Australia Public Health Project
Access to Health Care

THI Australia Public Health Project

Médecins du Monde Greece, through the THI Australia Public Health Project, contributes to the improvement of the general health status and the prevention of diseases of vulnerable social groups, offering accessible and quality care to underprivileged populations.

Beneficiaries of the THI Australia Public Health Project face social inequalities in health and precarious living conditions. Due to their financial situation they cannot afford the cost of services and need to be provided with tailored psychosocial support, counselling and administrative support services. The THI Australia Public Health Project responded and continued to provide services seamlessly throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

The aim of the project is to ensure access to a comprehensive package of Primary Health Care (PHC) and Psychosocial Support (PSY) services for socially vulnerable people from different areas of Attica seeking health services in Athens. This is achieved through the operation of the THI Australia Public Health Project at the premises of Médecins du Monde located in the centre of Athens. The total daily operational capacity of the Athens Open Polyclinic is 4 different medical offices per day as well as 1 social services office and 1 psychological support office 5 days per week.
