OP.E.N | MHPSS and PFA Assessement, Tools, Best practices in School Settings

The collection of the psychosocial support tools and the conduct of the survey through semi-structured interviews were carried out in the framework of the project OP.E.N (2021-2-EL01-KA210-SCH-000050953): “Developing a tool to assess the need for Psychological First Aid to adolescents school pupils”, funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, with the implementing organisations Médecins du Monde Greece, the Cyprus University of Technology and the organisations Citizens in Power and Syncnify. This project was created in the framework of the action “KA210-SCH Small scale partnerships in school education” and is supervised by the State Scholarship Foundation.

The OP.E.N project takes place in the context of school education and lifelong learning; its objectives give priority to teachers, school principals and other professionals working in the school environment. Particular attention is given to the development of key competences for the implementation of innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to learning.

The collection of the following internationally recognised tools and best practices of psychosocial support together with the participation of teachers in the brief survey around the needs of schools lies in the attempt to bridge the knowledge coming from the academic scientific field with the real facts and practices directly encountered in the school community.

The delivery of such a set of tools that are simple to use and that can act as a consultative tool in emergency situations cannot happen without the proper involvement of the aforementioned people in the process of co-construction, taking into account the real challenges as well as the suggestions of the professionals themselves.
