Updates from the flood-affected areas
In the wake of the severe weather phenomena, which disproportionately affected the lowland areas of central Greece and especially Thessaly, Médecins du Monde was immediately activated with continuous dispatches of Medical Mobile Units in the region. During the first phase of MdM response, field teams present on the ground in the affected areas provided immediate health care, support and assistance to residents, who reported extreme living conditions and austerity.
Médecins du Monde remains in the area with the daily operation of the Help Desk in Thessaly, through which they are meeting the needs for health care, referrals for psychological assistance and personal hygiene and basic furniture needs of households that have been severely damaged by the flooding.
The Help Desk operates on a daily basis from 08.00 to 16.00.
